There's a season for every work and every blessing. As we know, the home is not static; it seems to shift with the weather or the needs of those at home. Scripture also mentions: โa time to plant and a time to uprootโ (Ecclesiastes 3:2). We are evidently called to be faithful stewards of these times. To know that it's more than just swapping holiday decor or changing the weekly meal plan. It's about the posture of the heart. One that welcomes change, honors God's timing, and tends to the home with a wisdom custom to each season.
We become keepers of peace and rhythm when we prepare the homes for the season. It's like you start to recognize the subtle ways the Lord movesโmaybe in the warmth of the soup in winter, the linen covers of the summer, or the pruning during autumn. Homemaking becomes a form of worship that mirrors what God calls us to do.
There is a rhythm to God's creations. Day and night, work and rest, planting and harvesting. The wise homemaker is the one to lean into these rhythms rather than fighting them. Instead of resenting the change, we embrace them. They could be opportunities of blessings.
I want you to take note this week of how you can better reflect the current season in your home. Not just in appearance but heart posture. Is it a time for welcoming or feasting? A time for resting and planning? What are small steps you can make so the atmospheric in your home aligns with the season God has appointed?
In the Kitchen: Cook with what is in season โ this not only supports local farmers but makes your meals fresher and more flavorful. Think hearty stews in winter, fresh salads in spring, grilled vegetables in summer, and roasted roots in autumn.
In Your Spaces: Switch out heavy fabrics for lighter ones as temperatures rise, and cozy knits for chillier months. Organic cotton, linen, and wool are timeless choices.
In Your Schedule: Adjust family routines โ more outdoor dinners in summer, earlier bedtimes in winter. Let the season guide your pace.
In Your Heart: Use the seasonal shifts as prompts for prayer โ gratitude for harvest, intercession during the quiet of winter, and praise during the bloom of spring.
