You are the Quiet Work...
A sacred look into intentional homemaking.
Homemaking is about the deeper work happening behind the scenes. It’s found in the mother praying over the food as she’s cooking. It’s found in the wife reading her Bible like it’s a lifeline. It’s in the woman learning how to honor God even in her clothing.
Whatever it may be behind the scenes, the Lord is in the works. Homemaking is the result of a woman going beyond the surface level of throw pillows and folded linens. She is the holy work of preparing because she is preparing her heart first. Preparing it for her most important guest: Christ.
Preparation is in God’s design. He created Eden for Adam and Eve. We too are called to create and tend to spaces that will nourish others. But to understand that concept, you must understand who created you for it. And that very preparation is setting the stage for peace, growth, and worship.
Let’s start simple. In all you do, invite the Lord:
Plan a meal that not just feeds the body but nourishes it
Fold the laundry and pray over the bodies it clothes
Set the scene before Bible study, welcome stillness and no distractions
Clean, not out of obligation, but as an intentional act of love
This week, take a moment to ask: What am I preparing my home and heart for?
Let’s root our homemaking not in pressure, but in purpose. Because preparing is not just productivity. It’s prophecy. It’s pointing to the good that is coming — and making room for it.
“The 3-Part Preparation Rhythm”
A mini daily flow to build spiritual and physical preparedness into your day.
Morning: Light a candle or seek a silent place for you and the Lord and say a 30-second prayer before beginning the day.
Afternoon: Choose one small area to prep for tomorrow (lay out clothes, set the table, prep food).
Evening: Spend 10 minutes doing a “peace reset” — quiet music, tidy the main space, and pray over tomorrow’s needs.
Many of my family gatherings growing up, my Mammaw would make her famous cucumber salad. I always looked forward to tasting the flavors combined of Puerto Rican rice, chicken, and cucumber salad.
Now that I’m older, I’ve learned to make it as well, and it has become one of my husband’s favorite side dishes. It’s great for any season, but especially in the summer when many of these ingredients are grown locally and fresh!
Cucumber Salad
Ingredients
Salad Ingredients:
2 large cucumbers
2 Roma tomatoes
small red onion
1/2 red pepper
Vinaigrette ingredients:
A few tablespoons of olive oil
A few tablespoons of vinegar (I enjoy red wine vinegar or white wine vinegar)
Juice of one lemon
Salt to taste
Pepper to taste
Oregano or fresh herbs to taste
About a teaspoon of honey
Directions
Cut up all of the veggies to your desired length/style. I sliced the cucumbers and onions and diced the tomatoes and peppers.
Add all of the ingredients of the vinaigrette into glass and mix it up.
Pour vinaigrette over your salad and mix it together.
Enjoy!

This is a message that has been addressed before but it must be addressed again. Let’s stop seeing preparation as just “getting ahead” and instead: see it as making space for God to dwell. The holy work of preparing is not something to rush. It’s a rhythm of worship — one made sacred not by the result, but by the heart behind it. The Lord does not just dwell in the physical home but in the woman behind it. The homemaking will flow from you.

I love when you said Homemaking is pointing to the good that is coming and making room to welcome it in. This was such a beautiful read, I really enjoyed it. Thank you for filling my cup today 🤍
This is absolutely beautiful! Our hearts set the tone of our homes.
