There exists a kind of holiness that is often missed in this fast world—a sacredness embedded in daily, quiet obedience. Mending the holes on some jeans with care and detail. Sweeping the entrance of the house after the kids come home. Holding your tongue when you wants to snap in anger. Flipping to the next page in the Bible despite the sudden sleepiness.
These are not just chores or exercises of self-control—they are stones. Stepping stones. Paving our journey towards obedience and discipline. The Lord sees these simple performances and He calls them beautiful. Beautiful because they are a homage to a gentle reminder: homemaking is not about performance, but presence. Our whole lives can be living offerings. There really is nothing small in that. Not even in choosing to fold your clothes right after they are out of the dryer versus leaving it for the next day…another day?
Homemaking is not just about cultivating your ability to make a beautiful home full of peace and order—It’s about testing and strengthening the obedience within you too. One of the most powerful testimonies that a woman can have is bearing faithfulness in the ordinary. We are existing in a day-in-age where many chase results, influence, and outward glory. We may even have come to the conclusion that those things are what it means to be seen and accomplished in life. But the Lord is very much drawn to the hearts that also obey, even in the hidden things.
Our work in the home is not less sacred by any means just because it is “hidden.” In fact, it carries a beautiful sacredness away from the spotlight. Think of the people in the Bible who acted in split moments of silence to make powerful actions. The woman who anointed Jesus’ feet. Mary who pondered quietly in her heart to bear the son of God—they acted not for others but for One.
I need you to ask yourself something right now…are you seeking grandeur or offering obedience? And if you have found yourself wandering away—how can you return to simply obeying Him in the areas no one else claps for?
I want to share with you some concrete examples you can try out to initiate the changes one can take to achieve or work towards the lesson of the weekly newsletter.
These are not performance checklists, just simple ways to start change in the little:
This morning, be it the first thing you do, pray alone with the Lord and set your intentions for the day
Pick one chore that pertains to benefiting you in the long run and do it, then set a weekly/daily reminder for it
Read one Passage of the Bible daily, set reminders if you haven’t already started the habit
Write a short note/text of encouragement for someone today
