A Comprehensive List of Things I had on My Baby Registry and Why
As a new mom, I wanted my baby registry to be practical, simple, and filled with things that truly serve our home. Here’s everything I chose and the reasons behind each one.
If your email cuts this article off, feel free to read here.
I dreamed about having my own baby for years. During that time, I would listen to YouTube videos while I cleaned my house sharing all of the “Amazon must-haves” that you needed for your baby.
Of course, we all understand that babies don’t need much and there is a lot of consumerism that goes into the baby industry. But, I was still so excited for the day where I could create my own baby registry nonetheless, and add all of the cutesy things that I wanted for my child.
Getting to the point where I started to create my registry was so amazing until I realized how much research really went into choosing the items that you need (and want) for your baby. Not even to mention all of the different types of strollers, diapers, and more that you could buy.
So, I decided to create a comprehensive list of items that I chose for my registry as a mostly low-tox first-time mom so that it might make it a little bit easier for you when you create your own as well. I will also explain why I chose certain items over others. Let’s get into it!
*I am just sharing things I’ve learned from my research. I am not a doctor or expert, so please don’t take my word for anything. Do your own research.*
The Registry I Chose
I decided to use Amazon as my main registry because of how easy it is to use and the fact that 99% of people most likely already have an Amazon account. I knew that I was going to have a big baby shower with family coming, and I wanted to make it as easy as possible for them to buy the items that I already chose and researched ahead of time. With Amazon, they already have their cards stored on file and it just makes it really easy.
Basically, I wanted to minimize family and friends getting frustrated over a new site and deciding they rather go to Walmart and choose something else because it would be easier. Even though I feel extremely blessed for being gifted anything, so I would not have been mad if that’s what they chose to do, but since I’ve already researched a lot, it makes it easier for myself if I didn’t get any duplicate items or if people bought things that would not have necessarily been my preference.
I also chose Babylist as a secondary registry to add some items that I couldn’t find on Amazon. That is one of the only cons about having an Amazon registry—some companies are just not selling on Amazon. Thankfully, most of the baby items I desired were on Amazon. And if I didn’t find something, I would either get a close replacement or just add it to the Babylist registry. Full disclosure, no one ordered from the Babylist registry, because Amazon was everyone’s first choice.
Books
I didn’t necessarily add these to my registry, but here are a few books I read/wanted to read, so I thought it would be helpful!
Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth By: Ina May Gaskin - I do not think she is a Christian, but I still learned a lot from this book about birth. Half of the book is birth stories from different women, which really empowered me. The other half explains everything you need to know about birth and postpartum. If you get through the “hippy-ness” of it all, I think it will really benefit you, and it’s an easy read. I rate it a 5/5.
Faith-Filled Childbirth: A Christian Approach to Hypnobirthing By: Tara Menzies - I didn’t finish this book, but I bought it because I wanted to learn about hypnobirthing from a Christian perspective. It is highly rated, and I enjoyed her free hypnobirthing audio.
The Nourishing Traditions Book of Baby & Child Care By: Sally Fallon Morell and Thomas S. Cowan - I didn’t end up reading this book, but was recommended it by a friend. This book is included with Kindle Unlimited if you have that, and I definitely want to add it to my reading list for future pregnancies!
What other books would you recommend? Leave it in the comments for other moms!
Nursery Furniture
AirClub Bassinet - I wanted a simple bassinet that we could sit next to our bed when we slept so that I could easily turn and feed her at night. I’ve had no issues with this bassinet and love that I can move one of the sides down.
100% Organic Cotton Bassinet Sheets - I did my best to choose materials for our baby that were 100% Organic Cotton or some similar non-toxic material.
Oxford Nursery Chair - Who doesn’t want a comfy chair to nurse their baby in and take cute contact naps? This rocking chair was highly rated and matched the vibe of my dream nursery (which is just a corner of my room right now). For the price, it seemed like a good option. I never ended up actually getting it, and I’m kind of happy I didn’t because I don’t have any room in my current apartment for it. Maybe in the next one!
Naturepedic Organic Crib Mattress - We ended up deciding against doing a crib, but this was the mattress that we would have chose because it had organic materials and looked high-quality for our little princess.
Dadada Lala 3-in-1 Convertible Crib - Again, we didn’t end up choosing a crib, but this is the one that we wanted. It was highly-rated and a beautiful wood color. I also love that it converts to a bed.
Newton Baby Travel Crib & Play Yard - Okay, why didn’t we choose a crib? After babysitting some friend’s children, they introduced me to the idea of using a travel crib as a crib for the baby because it saves space and the baby doesn’t get their little arms caught in-between the wood columns in a regular crib. I liked the Newton for our baby because it sits on the floor, so they could use it for a long time in terms of weight, it is ultra-breathable, non-toxic, highly-rated, and high-quality. We could also fold it up to use when we travel. However, our bassinet is big enough for our baby to use it for many months, so it will be a moment before we decide to buy it.
Newton Crib Sheets - 100% Cotton sheets for the Newton Travel Crib.
Skip Hop Changing Pad - We chose this brand over the Keekaroo because it was the same material, highly-rated, and half the price. I didn’t know how many diaper blowouts babies had until having my own. Almost every day there is food, poop, and milk everywhere! Having a wipeable changing pad is a must in my opinion.
DaVinci Charlie Dresser - Finding the right dresser for us took time, but we ultimately decided on this one because there was enough room for our changing pad on top and some more room for an organizer. We wanted the dresser to double as a changing table, and many of the other dressers we saw were not large enough for our changing pad to fit. I also really loved how it looked so timeless. It fits nicely into our room!
Parker Baby Diaper Caddy - Speaking of organizer, this is the one that we chose. I registered for two so that we could have one in our living room and one in our room for easy access to essentials.
Ubbi Steel Diaper Pail - We wanted a steel diaper pail to keep the smell out and ultimately chose this one over others because we could use any size trash bag. My husband and I really love having a diaper pail, and have had no issues with this one!
HelloBaby No WiFi Baby Monitor - We wanted a really simple baby monitor that didn’t connect to WiFi because of the weird stories of people being able to see into people’s homes. This one was highly-rated, so we just chose it! We haven’t set it up yet, so I don’t have any details on if it works well or not.
Feeding
Jeep Milestone High Chair - This high chair was actually something that I saw one of my family friend’s use and I wanted it for my baby. It has 6 different configurations, so they can use it as a table with a little toddler seat too. I thought it was super cute, functional, highly-rated, and well-priced compared to others!
Domensi Porcelain Plates with Silicone Sleeves - So, why did I choose porcelain for a toddler? That’s a great question. I didn’t want to use the regular silicone plates because I heard how they would start to smell weird and get gross over time. I chose these high quality plates that have suctions sleeves so that, hopefully, it doesn’t break. Honestly, another great option is stainless steel, but I didn’t find out about that until we already got these as a gift and I really like them. We’ve used them for our daughter and have no issues!
Domensi Porcelain Bowls with Silicone Sleeves - same idea as the plates.
Momcozy Bottle Brush Kit - I didn’t want to get the massive bottle-washing machine because I just don’t want another eye-sore appliance on my counter. My daughter is almost 8 months and we exclusively breastfeed, so I rarely use bottle anyways.
Philips Avent Natural Glass Bottles - Speaking of bottles…I wanted to choose bottles that promoted breastfeeding and were not plastic. I knew that the Evenflo Wide Neck bottles were one of the best for promoting a good latch, but they didn’t have the glass ones on Amazon. So, I learned that these Philips Avent glass bottles fit the nipple of the Evenflo bottles (make sure you don’t try to add the white piece, just the Evenflo nipple to the rest of the Philips Avent bottle). So, I just added both to our registry as a workaround.
Evenflo Wide Neck Plastic Bottles - Another reason why I’m choosing to go this route when it comes to bottles, and not choosing Dr. Brown’s or other brands, is because I don’t want to wash a lot of pieces when I do dishes.
100% Cotton Muslin Clothes - I loves these burp clothes!
100% Organic Cotton Burp Clothes - I thought these 100% organic burp clothes were so cute.
100% Organic Cotton Bibs - Honestly, this brand has so many good options for organic baby items. I loved how cute these bibs were!
haakaa Popsicle Mold - I wanted a mold that I could create breastmilk popsicles with for when my baby is teething.
Nursing
Earth Mama Organic Nipple Butter - I liked this organic option for nipple butter, but apparently you can also just use coconut oil if you’d like.
Konssy Muslin Nursing Cover - I wanted a 100% cotton breastfeeding cover. This seemed like a good option for me because it is a breathable poncho, and I live in a hot climate.
Boppy Nursing Pillow - There are many options for nursing pillows, but I liked this one because it can double as a pillow that I can use for tummy time with my baby. Plus, like everyone loves the Boppy for nursing, so I made sure to register for it.
Lansinoh Breast Therapy Packs - These looked like they would be soothing if my nipples were ever in pain.
Lansinoh Stay Dry Disposable Nursing Pads - I wanted easy disposable nursing pads that I could use if I ever leak.
SILVERETTE Nursing Cups - These are apparently supposed to be really amazing for your nipples if they are in pain from breastfeeding. I never actually got them, so who knows!
Medela Harmony Manual Breast Pump - I liked the idea of a manual breast pump that I can use when I needed a quick pump. However, I did not like using it when I actually pumped. It was a pain, and took forever for me to get just a little milk.
haaka Manual Breast Pump - I’ve seen a lot of women recommend this as a way to get any extra milk from the opposite breast while your baby is nursing. However, I did go to a lactation class and the Lactation Consultant recommended to instead get a milk collector because the haakaa breast pump could stimulate your breasts to make your body think that you need double the milk than you actually do. Also, she mentioned that sometimes the haakaa can stop suctioning and make you spill your milk. So, something to think about! I still added it because I wanted to see what the hype was about because many internet moms swear by it still. I never got it, because I used the Boon Trove instead and loved it.
Boon Trove Manual Breast Pump and Passive Milk Collector - I added this milk collector to my registry for the reasons given above. This was such a game-changer for me! I ended up buying an expensive pump and only used it once, but still ended up getting a freezer stash just from this $15.99 milk collector. It was so helpful during the early days!
Lansinoh Breastmilk Storage Bags - I wanted some bags to store any extra breastmilk.
Health & Baby Care
Moonkie Baby Finger Toothbrush - I didn’t even realize that babies without teeth needed oral cleaners, but my sister-in-law suggested it, so I decided to add it.
The Honest Company Healing Ointment - There are a lot of ointment brands out there. I decided to add this one to my registry because it was highly-rated and seemed like a good option compared to other brands.
Frida 3-in-1 Thermometer - I just wanted a simple thermometer that I can use to make sure my baby is at a proper temperature. I decided to go with this option over the fancier forehead ones because apparently inserting it rectally gives you a more accurate read.
Philips Avent Baby Pacifiers - Even though they’re not very cute, these pacifiers are highly-rated, so I added them.
Frida Baby NoseFrida SnotSucker - Sounds gross to suck snot from your baby’s nose, but I heard tons of things about this product and how great it works for unclogging your baby’s nose. The only reason why I added this is because I saw that the snot doesn’t actually go into your mouth from sucking it. Well, I was wrong. Works great, but I didn’t like the idea of tasting boogers. So I bought another one (below).
GROWNSY Nasal Aspirator - Here is the electric one that we ended up buying and works great! We use this every day before she goes to bed.
Frida Baby 3-in-1 Nose, Nail + Ear Picker - Another contraption for snot and other gunk that might need to be cleaned that I saw recommended.
Frida Baby Electric Nail Buffer - I am terrified of cutting my baby’s fingers with a nail clipper, so this electric nail buffer looked right up my alley. We enjoy using this to buff our daughter’s nails.
Frida Baby Nail Clippers - We ended up buying these nail clippers for her toes because it was pretty much impossible to use the nail buffer to cut those, and it works well!
Bathing Essentials
Bath Kneeler and Elbow Rest Pad - Having a rest for my knees and elbows when I give baby a bath is so nice.
Frida Baby Bath Rinse Cup - A bath rinse cup that will allow you to control the flow.
Angelcare Baby Bath Support - I have family that told me how great this option was instead of getting an entire baby bath. There are tons of great reviews on this!
Burt’s Bees Baby Shampoo & Wash - I enjoy Burt’s Bees products, so I chose this option for washing my baby.
Burt’s Bees 100% Organic Cotton Infant Washcloths - High-quality washcloths for bath time!
Burt’s Bees 100% Organic Cotton Baby Hooded Towels - High quality baby towels for bath time.
Sleeping Essentials
Hatch for Baby Sleep Bundle - I volunteer at my church’s nursery and saw first-hand the affects of using a sound machine for baby’s to settle down and rest, so this seemed like a great option. It’s also a light that you can use at night time for feeding. Many internet mom’s recommended this, but I am sure there are more options. Who doesn’t love a little white noise when they nap?
Mama Cheetah Baby Swaddle Sack - I’ve seen how these types of swaddles have soothed my nieces and nephew, so I wanted to add some to my registry. They are 100% organic, so I made sure to get them in a couple of sizes for my baby.
LifeTree Baby Swaddle Blankets - I also added tons of different baby swaddle blankets to my registry, and really liked these because they are organic. There are lots of options out there, though!
Strollers & Car Seats
Joie Saffron 4-1 Car Seat - We ultimately decided to go with this car seat because it could fit my baby from newborn until she is about 4 years old. If we asked for an infant carseat that is more like a bucket, we’d have to buy a new carseat in about a year. This brand has the same manufacturer as Nuna and was highly-rated.
Onco Baby Car Mirror & Car Window - We decided to go with a mirror just from some feedback that I received from family about how car cameras can be annoying sometimes with all of the wires and such. This was one of the most basic ones that seemed high-quality.
Gaiatop Mini Portable Stroller Fan - I live in Texas, so having these fans for our stroller made a lot of sense.
Nuna trvl lx bmw collection Stroller - There are tons of options for strollers and all different kinds of reasons to choose one over another. The reason why we decided to go with this stroller is because I have to walk multiple stairs frequently to be able to go on my daily walks, and I wanted something easy and light weight to carry around. Nuna is a great brand that has high-quality items and non-toxic fabrics. Plus, they’re just so beautiful! We were blessed to be gifted this stroller by my parents. There are many other options out there to fit your needs as well! This stroller is not available on Amazon.
Diapering
BabbleRoo Diaper Bag Backpack - There are so many cute options for diaper bags, but this one was highly-rated and nicely-priced! It also comes with a portable diaper-changing pad.
LOVEVOOK Mini Diaper Bag Backpack - This is the diaper bag that I plan on using for quick outings and when I’m going placed where I don’t want to carry a bunch of items. Comes with a portable diaper-changing pad as well.
The Honest Company Diapers - There are many great options for diapers out there, but this is one of the options that we chose because it is hypoallergenic, fragrance free, and available on Amazon. I didn’t 100% love these diapers because they are pretty thin and don’t feel as nice as other brands.
Pampers Pure Baby Diapers - A family member recommended this brand as an alternative to regular versions of diapers and it was available on Amazon. We loved them until they changed recently. They just don’t feel the same!
Millie Moon Luxury Diapers - This is the brand that we currently use and really enjoy them!
Ubbi Baby Wipes Dispenser with Weighted Plate - I liked the idea of having a weighted wipe dispenser so that I don’t waste wipes during diaper changes.
Esembly Cloth Diaper Cover - I would like to use cloth diapers, and I’ve seen a lot of great reviews about this brand. We don’t cloth diaper right now, but I plan to try to in the future.
Activity & Gear
WildBird Ring Sling Baby Carrier - I love baby wearing, and this was so great to use in the first few months.
WildBird Aerial Carrier - I’ve seen a lot of reviews about how great this structured carrier is for your back. I enjoy carrying my baby in this when I have things to do or when I’m working.
Solly Baby Wrap - There are a lot of great reviews about this baby wrap that you can wear from the time that they are a newborn, and I ended up adding it to my registry. I loved using this at the beginning.
Baby Bjorn Bouncer - There are definitely some other options out there for bouncers, but I saw tons of reviews on this bouncer and how great it was. I also loved how beautiful this bouncer was. My daughter loves this bouncer. She will spend a long time bouncing! We ended up buying a second cover so that whenever she has a blowout, we can easily switch between the two while the other one is being washed.
LOVEVERY Play Gym - This is another highly-rated item. I wanted a play gym that was not too overwhelming with tons of crazy colors, not too ugly, and useful for when my baby had play time. This seemed like a great option. I ended up being gifted another random play gym that suited my needs, so I never ended up getting this one.
For Mom
Frida Mom Postpartum Essentials Kit - This kit has a lot of essentials for postpartum care.
Arrozon 2 Pack Labor Comb - Labor combs are supposed to help you cope with the pain during labor. I think it helped a little bit, but I don’t remember.
Maternity Nursing Pajama Sets - I highly recommend some comfy pajamas for postpartum. I didn’t get this set, but I did buy tons of cozy clothes to wear, which was so nice.
Clothing
There are tons of brands for baby clothes, but I chose these brands below because they were 100% organic cotton, which is what I look for when I buy clothes for my baby. Here are some clothing items I registered for:
YANIBEST Baby Satin Bonnet - My baby was likely going to have beautiful curls, so getting a bonnet for her was a necessity. She does have tons of gorgeous hair, so I’m glad we got this!
Miss Mouth’s Stain Treater Spray - There were tons of great reviews about this product removing stains very easily, so this item seemed beneficial. I am so glad we got this and we end up buying a couple bottles almost every month!
I hope that this list was beneficial! Feel free to leave other useful items in the comments below.
